I earned both my M.A. and Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology from Duke University. I've been living in New Orleans since 2009, where I conducted dissertation research on Black-led arts organizations and community rebuilding in the post-Katrina historical moment. While conducting fieldwork in post-Katrina New Orleans I also worked for Junebug Productions, a theater production company with organizational roots stretching back to the civil rights movement. I'm an Adjunct Professor at SUNO in the Museum Studies program. I also sit on the editorial team of Createquity, a virtual think tank and online publication that investigates the most important issues in the arts and what we, collectively and individually, can do about them.
